Brace yourselves, folks! It's time to ride the wild wave of a kitchen renovation.
While the thought of a spruced-up space gets our hearts racing, let's face it – navigating through the chaos can make even the coolest cucumbers feel a tad frazzled. But fear not, fellow renovators! With a bit of prep and a sprinkle of humour, we'll ride this wave like seasoned pros.
First things first, let's set the scene for this renovation rollercoaster. Picture this: your kitchen transformed into a construction zone, dust flying, tools clanging – it's like a DIY reality show, minus the dramatic music (cue the suspenseful drumroll). Embrace the chaos, folks. We're in for a wild ride!
Now, onto the game plan. Think of your kitchen renovation as a recipe – a dash of design inspiration, a cup of detailed planning, and a generous helping of communication with your contractor. Stir it all together, and voila! You've got yourself a recipe for success. And hey, if all else fails, remember: there's no problem a well-placed kitchen pun can't solve! 😉
Alright, let's talk survival tactics. If you're sticking around during the renovation (because, let's be real, who wants to live on takeout for weeks?), it's time to set up camp in your makeshift kitchen. So grab a collapsable table and set up this station somewhere that dust and debris has a harder time getting to.
PRO TIP: Pack away your pantry staples into a few large Rubbermaid style totes with closing lids to ensure your food has as little dust particles as possible.
Now, for the pièce de résistance: the essential kitchen survival kit. Forget fancy gadgets and gourmet ingredients – we're keeping it simple and practical. Picture this: a mini fridge stocked with snacks, a trusty air fryer for all your cooking needs, and an electric kettle that can keep you fuelled on caffeine. Oh, and don't forget the disposable plates and utensils – because let's face it, nobody's got time for dishes during a renovation!
So, there you have it, folks – your guide to riding the kitchen renovation wave like a pro. Remember, it's all about embracing the chaos, keeping the humour flowing, and looking forward to that first meal in your newly renovated kitchen. Hang tight, and let's ride this wave together!
Now, let's talk about the practical side of preparing for a kitchen renovation. If you're not moving out during the renovation, it's crucial to create a temporary kitchen setup to ensure that you can still prepare meals and maintain some sense of normalcy. Here's a checklist of essential kitchen items to keep out and accessible during the renovation:
Microwave: Ideal for heating up quick meals or leftovers.
Air Fryer: Perfect for more than just roasting veggies! Try toasting bread, baking small dishes, or even cooking chicken wings in a pinch.
Electric Kettle: Who needs coffee? umm ME! Also useful for instant noodles and cup-o-soups.
Mini Fridge or Cooler: Keep perishable items fresh without needing access to your main refrigerator.
Basic Utensils and Cookware: Essentials like knives, cutting boards, a couple pots, and a frying pan will come in handy for quick and easy meal preparation.
Disposable Plates, Cups, and Utensils: Minimize cleanup during the renovation by using disposable items when possible. I know it’s no eco-friendly but hey, during a kitchen renovation all is fair!
Once your renovation is done and you’re ready to move back into the space think carefully about where the items you’ve been storing away will live. This can be tricky and time consuming but I promise you it’s so worth the planning and effort here. So often we get calls from fellow renovation mavens asking us for help revamping their spaces because they just chucked everything into place once it was completed - AVOID AT ALL COSTS FRIENDS!
Of course, if you’re local to Vancouver and the surrounding areas, our team of organizers has you covered if some extra hands on deck are required. So if you’re feeling uber stressed about the process, send us an email to info@crescentliving.ca - even if its just to vent about the process, we’re here to listen and encourage you along the way!
As always, thank you for being here and keeping up with Crescent Living Co.
