How the Vancouver Home Show Helped Me Build Crescent Living Co.
When I was first invited to present at the BC Home + Garden Show in 2021, I felt like I had finally “made it.” I was nervous, of course — standing on the main stage at BC Place was no small feat, but I was also energized. It felt like a real turning point in my journey as a professional home organizer and founder of Crescent Living Co.
That first year, I was given a free booth by the show organizers, and to say I bootstrapped it is an understatement. So what happened? Naturally, I roped my husband into helping me drag the furniture from our kitchen into the truck and even took the rug from my own living room to make it feel like a space. I scrambled to get a banner printed to be hung up at the booth at the last minute! It was humble. It was personal. It worked.
By the time the Vancouver Fall Home Show rolled around in 2022, the momentum had grown. I was asked to be the “Home Clean Home” feature exhibitor of the entire event — a huge honour.
We created a live, visual transformation: a messy, chaotic bedroom turned into a clean, functional space. I partnered with Sleep Country Canada to provide the beds and roped in my incredibly talented designer friend Alyssa (plus her storage unit full of staging gems) to help me complete the look. When I say this was a team effort rooted in community and scrappiness, I mean it.
By 2023, I didn’t have a booth of my own, but was asked to return to the main stage, not once but twice. This time at the Vancouver Spring Home & Garden Show, where I presented to rooms filled with familiar faces of friends, clients, and new folks curious about how organizing can change a home and a life.
And this year (2025) marked my fifth time presenting. I focused my talk on the idea that “Organized People Are Just Lazy” — a playful take on the truth that we’re all just trying to make life easier on ourselves. Afterward, a sweet woman came up to me, thanked me for my words, and handed me a bouquet of sunflowers from her garden. It was the kindest, most unexpected moment.
That same day, I posted a Reel to Instagram and titled it: “My younger self would be so proud.” And truthfully, I got teary-eyed while uploading it. Because she would be. I am!
The Home Show has brought me more than exposure — it’s brought me community. I’ve built relationships with fellow exhibitors like Lemon Square, Hewing House, and Garage Living, all of whom I now consider friends in this whirlwind world of business ownership.
It’s also been a chance to re-establish my voice in this industry. When I stand on that stage or greet someone at my booth, I’m reminded: I am an expert. I do have something valuable to offer. I’ve worked hard to build this company since 2019, and it shows.
Whether it’s organizing a family kitchen, helping someone unpack after a big move, or guiding them through estate clearing with empathy and strength — Crescent Living Co. is about so much more than baskets and labels. It’s about helping people breathe again in their own space.
And I owe a big thank you to the Vancouver Home & Garden Show for giving me the platform (literally and figuratively) to do that.
As always, thanks for reading along and supporting Crescent Living Co.
